You want to buy a product. Well, you need a solution and in the end you can’t use Open Source for everything so you will need to buy something.

And that means talking to the Account Manager. That rat-eyed, two faced liar who will promise anything to make a deal, drop ship that kit and get it booked into the current quarter. Long on promises, short on delivery, shiny of suit, slimy in mode and always, always a lying bastard.

Network Maintenance Contracts

Because nothing says “we have got you the balls now you suckers” than looking at the renewal bill on the maintenance contract for your network hardware.

Seriously. It’s usually cheaper to simply pile up the kit in the cupboard instead. But, no. You need software maintenance. Otherwise known as extortion – as in “we left some bugs in the software, you have to keep paying if you want things to work’
